"It's all about 17 minutes..."
That's a quote from Mark Davis, the host of Big Water Adventures as we were running in at the end of our trip. For a TV show, that's what it all comes down to...just 17 minutes of air time.
All the months of planning, organizing, arranging busy schedules as well as the amazing amount of tackle prep necessary to do what needed to be done...was done...in order to get on the water, find the necessary target species and film endless hours so it can be edited down to just 17 minutes of actual air time. And we did it...we got some outstanding footage!!!
The pic is just a sample of an amazing trip. I guess I need some more time in the gym as I had a hard time getting the tail section off the side of the boat...this was a fattie, 56" long, didn't even fit the frame and probably a new personal best!!!
But what will really make the show is all the other stuff on film, some of which is nothing short of never-been-seen-before absolutely freakin amazing!!! Those guys are total pros at what they do and are a total crackup to work with...my sides still hurt from laughing so hard and my mind is still blown from some of the stuff I saw (and did) on the trip!!!
I can't say much more at this time other than a big "Thanks" to Mark Davis/Big Water Adventures, our cameraman Nathan from the Outdoor Channel and "Captain Don Trojan" of the 40' Cabo "Miss Mandy"...guys that was too much fun!!!

The show will air sometime after the first of the year and I'll let you know...
Good luck and good fishing (and it's lookin good out there)
Big Seabass and “Ugly Bird Schools”
After a long tour of store duty without nearly enough time on the water I finally couldn’t stand it any more. With endless reports of Island seabass and increasing word about local seabass, like so many other great trips, this one started with a phone call. It only took a few minutes on the phone to convince Jamie to go for the afternoon bite and since he was leaving on a charter the next morning, it would lay some groundwork for their trip.
I love it when the details work out and a plan comes together!!! We left the dock at 5pm, got a quick pass of bait from Brian on the bait barge and headed down the beach, enjoying the nice weather and watching for bird schools. It wasn’t long before we found them. We got four lines in the water & as we were drifting along Jamie called to me come and look at this & I went into the cabin to look at the meter with a big bait school and four big fish marks right on top of it just under the boat. Before I could grab my camera to get the picture two rods folded over & it was game on. A few minutes later we had a matched pair of big ones on the deck and it was high fives and big smiles as we got the pressure off easily.

As good as it gets
Nice way to start the season…better late than never

Jamie with a sunset seabass
We made repeated drifts through the area as I continued to snap pictures for an up coming article as well for this Thursday’s sounder seminar in the store.
One big seabass right over the middle of the bait school
I’ve got to go to work right now but I’ll add more details in a bit.
Good luck and good fishing…
